David Eugene "Gene" Dunkelberger,
Age 87, of Somerville, Ohio, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to the late David & Grace (Withrow) Dunkelberger on November 3rd,1936.
Along with his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his brother, Don; grandson-in-law, Jacob Garber; and fur baby, Max.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wilma (Williams) Dunkelberger; son, David Alan (Annette) Dunkelberger, granddaughters, Alana Garber & Alisha (Byron) Eck; great grandchildren, Noah Matheny, Elizabeth Garber, Wynston Eck, Judah Garber, Waverly Grace Eck; several nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly.
Gene was a man of many accomplishments and an unwavering devotion to serving others. His commitment to his country was evident through his service in the National Guard. For several years, Gene served on the Somerville Fire Department.
He was an active member of the Masonic Temple 159. He cherished the bonds he formed with his fellow Masons and the shared values they upheld.
A man of faith, Gene was a devoted member of the Somerville Community Church, where he and his wife, Wilma, attended for many years. Along with being a member of the church, he was also a member of the Preble County Historical Society.
In addition to all of his wonderful accomplishments, Gene was a proud business owner of Dunkelberger & Son's in Somerville, Ohio.
Above all, Gene loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Somerville Community Church in Somerville, Ohio from 11:00AM to 1:00PM with a service to start at 1:00PM with Pastor Mark Crary.
