Ernest “Buddy” Root
74, of Camden, passed away, Sunday, March 9, 2025.
He was born September 3, 1950, in Hamilton, to the late Ernest “Bud” J. and Edna M. (Neanover) Root.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Katherine Howard and Della Marie Feix.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly D. Root; sons, Andrew and wife Barbara, and Matthew and wife Joellen Root; grandchildren, Victoria, Alexandra, Aiden, and Addison Root; sister, Hazel Ballinger; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Buddy, a proud veteran and beloved family man, left behind a lifetime of love, service, and cherished memories. He dedicated two years to the U.S. Army and twenty years to the Ohio National Guard, honorably serving in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. His commitment to his country was a reflection of his strength and unwavering dedication.
Buddy spent over 32 years working at AK Steel, where his hard work and dedication were evident in everything he did. Outside of work, his passion for classic cars brought him great joy—whether he was restoring them, showcasing them, or simply admiring their beauty. A true enthusiast, he found happiness in the details and the history behind every vehicle.
Buddy was also a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan, cheering on his team through every season. But above all, he treasured time spent with his family. He had a way of making every gathering memorable, keeping things interesting with his humor, stories, and the love he poured into every moment.
