Ethel “Pearl” (Engle) Johnson
went home to be with Jesus on July 26th 2018.
Pearl worked at Baxter Health Care for over 20 years, and Burrows Paper in Carlisle for 10 years. Pearl was known for her kind heart towards everyone she met. She helped neighbors, was a great cook and baker, and she loved feeding people. She always had coffee parties with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made all of her grandchildren feel special and very loved. Pearl was all about family and the more around her the better. She held Bike-A-Thon’s for several years to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was a member of Light House Baptist Church of Camden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Boyd Engle and Aline Engle; 12 siblings; and son, Carl Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Laban Johnson; 2 daughters, Joy (Ken) Adams and Sandi (Scott) Deaton; 1 son, Darren (Tevy) Johnson; 11 grandchildren, Erica, Michelle, Jason, Andrea, Tesha, Billy, Laban, Mulika, Aalyah, and Matthew; 14 great grandchildren, James, Sean, Michael Jeremy, Bailey, Sebastian, Hailee, Trinity, Harlee, Noah, Kyleigh, Brooklyn, Koa and Knox; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service, Monday, July 30 at 11AM at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria with Pastor Wayne Pendleton officiating. A lunch will be served at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 7085 Gratis Jacksonburg Rd, Gratis, OH 45330 following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105
