James Norman Roberts

Born July 30, 1936 to Frank and Stella (Ponder) Roberts.  James was born and raised in Camden, Ohio where he also raised his family.  He married Loretta Back on September 22, 1956 and they had 4 children.

James, a farmer and business owner, was a well-known member of the community.  His businesses included Roberts Meats in Camden and Eaton, Loretta’s Kitchen in Camden as well as operating concessions for the Preble County Fairgrounds.   Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors he was a machine tool builder at National Cash Register in Dayton, Ohio.

James was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Camden and a former member of Eaton Baptist Temple.

James was dearly loved by his family and personified hard work and ingenuity.  He was a man of strong conviction and character and has left lasting memories.  He will be missed.

James was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Stella Roberts, his sisters Juanita (Frazee) and Marilyn Sue (Leab). He is survived by his children Gregory (Elisa), Jeffrey  (Sue), DeAnna, Kimberly “Shelly” Grizzle (Rick), 13 grandchildren Gregory Powers (Rebekah), Lindsey Starnes (Trevor), Cody Roberts (Ashley), Mallory Roberts, Catrina McClain (Mike), James Hanna, Natalie Cooper (Kurt), Mitchell Roberts, Kalin Hanna, Ty Roberts, Riley Roberts, Bryant Grizzle and Micah Grizzle and 11 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Andrew Powers, Reid, Callan and Ford Starnes, Zavier, Noah, Kinley and Ryan McClain, Tristan Roberts and Wallace Cooper and  his best friend Dick Back and best animal-friend, Boozer.

Visitation will be Sunday October 15 from 2PM to 3:30PM at the First Southern Baptist Church, Camden with the funeral service to begin at 3:30PM.  Burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
