There was no place she loved more than her back porch, where she could be found most days watching the birds and animals gather at her feeders. Surrounded by the blooms she so adored—roses, begonias, and chrysanthemums—Lena found peace in nature’s rhythm.
In her younger days, Saturdays were for helping others feel beautiful. With a steady hand and a joyful heart, Lena would do hair and makeup for her co-workers at Baxter, where she retired from, turning kitchens and living rooms into makeshift salons filled with laughter and chatter.
Lena had a sharp wit and a playful soul. She loved to cut up, quick with a joke and never one to pass up the chance to make someone laugh. Her humor was never at anyone’s expense, it was a reflection of her deep love for people and her ability to find light in everyday moments.
A devoted member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for over 70 years, Lena’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She taught Sunday School for the little ones, planting seeds of love and scripture.
Above all, Lena loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Whether it was a quiet visit or a lively gathering, she treasured every moment, every story shared, and every hug. She had a way of making people feel at home, wrapped in the warmth of her presence.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 15 from 10AM to 12PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 7085 Gratis-Jacksonburg Road, Camden 45311. The funeral service will begin at 12PM with her son, Pastor David Longworth and Pastor Wayne Pendleton officiating. Lena will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis.
