Verna J. King

73, of Camden, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025.

She was born on August 5, 1951, in Middletown, to the late Vernon and Marcea (Gray) King.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and Matthew King; and niece, Lilly King.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Tony) Caudill; grandsons, Chase (Dina) Caudill and Dalton (Hannah) Caudill; great grandchildren, Uriah, Ezekiel, and Shiloh; sister, Melinda (Bob) Spofford; nieces and nephew, Rihanna (Adam) Hunter, Sara (Jeff) King, Sara (Brian) Robbins, and Mason King; life-long friend, Pam Phelps; and many friends.

After graduating from Preble Shawnee High School, Class of 1969, Verna worked as a devoted and compassionate nurse for over 50 years, dedicating her life to caring for others, specializing in the allergy field, where her patience and kindness made a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues.

Beyond her career, Verna found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid bingo player, always ready with her lucky charms and a hopeful smile. Her love for nature was evident in the time she spent tending to her plants and flowers, nurturing beauty in every season.

A passionate sports fan, Verna cheered wholeheartedly for the Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes, never missing a game and proudly sporting her team colors. She also had a deep love for music, especially attending concerts to see Elvis impersonators. She and her dear friend Pam shared a special tradition of going to the movie theater together, never missing a new Marvel film. Verna also loved golfing with her daughter, Stephanie, cherishing their time together on the course.

But above all, family was the most important part of her life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love.

A visitation will be held Monday, February 17 from 4PM to 6PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden, with a memorial service to begin at 6PM.
