William “Bill” Bates, Sr.
73, of West Elkton, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2023.
He was born March 31, 1949, in Cincinnati, to the late Raymond N. and Elizabeth G. (Garten) Bates.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Bates; son, Brian Bates; and brother, Jim Bates.
He is survived by his son, Billy (Tracy) Bates; stepson, Mike Christophel; grandchildren, Josh, Joey, Andrea, Brian, Jake, and Emily; brother, Ray (Lois) Bates; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Bill was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1967. He went on to found Tri-Mac Manufacturing in Hamilton in 1983 and it is still in operation today. Bill had been an avid hunter and fisherman, and felt right at home in West Elkton where he was once elected the mayor. In his downtime, Elvis could be heard playing on the radio as he worked on his classic cars (’57 Chevys and corvettes mostly). Bill was a Mason and member of the Gratis Eagles and could be heard often telling anyone who would listen, how proud he was of his family.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 3 from 11AM to 1PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden with the funeral service to begin at 1PM Bill will be laid to rest at Fairmound Cemetery in West Elkton next to his beloved wife and son.
